Ryan Martin offered to install a black and white workhorse printer in a public space and manage it privately. There are currently two in the building. One is in storage in the Screenprinting lab, the other is deployed just inside the Building 8 doors. Consumables are available on a by-donation basis, and there is no requirement for training. Ryan is willing to answer questions, directly take problem reports, and provide any training needed; feel free to contact him. The deployed printer currently has the following accessories installed:

  • Duplexer
  • JetDirect Ethernet Card
  • 160MB RAM

Configured Workstations

The printer drivers are set up and configured already on the computers in Electronics and Robotics, on the computer sharing a table with the printer, and the computers in the Screenprinting lab.

Consumables

You may purchase consumables for public use and either have them mailed to the asylum c/o Ryan Martin or leave them under the table. Toner is C4182X and can be had from generic sources on amazon for under 30 dollars, to slightly over 100 for branded OEM. It is also possible to refill the cartridges, and if we explore this option the process will be documented here.

Paper and card stock, legal paper, and 8.5x11 paper are all usable, as are transparency sheets.

Maintenance Cycle

When first deployed the historical page count was at 11k pages. Maintenance is suggested at 200k pages. Recommend checking at 150k anyway.
