Following places have offered discounts to the Asylum in the past; check with Asylum personnel for current status:

  • Rockler 2154 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02140 (also one in Fall River) 800-279-4441 - Limited selection of lumber at steep prices, but carry specialty stuff - exotic hardwood turning blanks, live edge slabs, etc. Large selection of finishes, findings, and tools. Great place to periodically see SawStop demos live on a Saturday morning. Also, the guy who does a lot of our woodshop tool maintenance quietly in the wee hours of the morn works there.
  • Sterritt Lumber Watertown (2 locations) 617-923-5200 - Good source for construction lumber, also carry a variety of hard and soft woods. Local, independant, handles LEED and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified materials. Will deliver and possibly give discounts to the Asylum for larger orders. People will frequently email Discuss to place a group order.

Other local places:

  • Arlington Coal and Lumber (41 Park Ave, Arlington) has good stock at good prices.
  • Boulter Plywood 425 Riverside Ave, Medford, MA 02155 (781) 874-9797 - Great selection of marine and hardwood plywoods, some hardwood board stock at ok prices, will deliver for $35 (and often within the hour to Somerville), will make straight 90 degree through cuts for $1.50 per cut within 1/32nd of an inch tolerance.
  • Rugby Downes & Reader 60 Evans Dr, Stoughton, MA 02072 (781) 341-4092 - Downes & Reader was recently acquired by Rugby Holdings, an architectural woodworking supplier.
