Dake speed control
The Dake drill press is reversible with variable speed control.

To start

1. Disengage the E-STOP button (left, bottom)

2. Turn the switch (right, bottom) to the desired direction. Forward is 99% of the useful cases

3. The spindle speed can be adjusted with the small black knob top right.

To Stop

1. Turn the three-position switch (bottom, right) to OFF.

2. Alternatively, push the E-STOP button.

NOTE: The Dake speed control knob adjusts the speed over a moderate range. To make large changes to the spindle speed:

1. Unplug the drill press

2. Open the belt/pulley cover

3. Loosen the belt-tensioning lock handle on the right side just in front of the motor.

4. Check the table of belt and pulley configurations. In the metal shop a hardcopy of the table is attached to the speed control box. You can also look at p. 15 of the Dake SB-32V manual.

5. Reconfigure the belts as desired.

6. Tension the belts by pushing the motor back and tightening the lock handle.

Dake pulley set
The Dake drill press has a third idler pulley in the power train.

7. The belt shouldn't be too tight. It should be possible to deflect the belt 1/2" by pressing with a finger.

8. Close the belt/pulley cover.

9. Plug the machine back in.
