==Tool Template==

-
A template for a "major" publicly-available tool at the Asylum.  In addition to vital statistics about the tool itself, this template is designed to providing the following meta-information:

-
# [[:Category:Tools|What tools are available at the Asylum]]

-
# How this tool fits into the Asylum's [[:Category:Tool Species|tool training system]]

-
# In what [[:Category:Craft Areas|Craft Area]] this tool is located

-
# How to [[Fixit | report problems or view reported problems]] concerning this tool

-

-
This is achieved through a MediaWiki-based system described in [[Help:Tools, Training, and Testing]].

== Special Fields ==

-

-
There are several fields that require special consideration in this template.

-

-
=== Species ===

-
The species field refers to a wiki category (minus the <tt>Category:</tt> part of the identifier) for the correct [[:Category:Tool Species|tool species]].  This will indicate the Asylum training information for the tool.  If you don't know the proper value for this field, don't even include the "species" line.

-

-
<nowiki>{{ToolBox</nowiki>

-
'''|species = Vertical Band Saws'''

-
}}

-

-
=== Location ===

-
The location field refers to a wiki category (minus the <tt>Category:</tt> part of the identifier) for the correct [[:Category:Craft Areas|Craft Area]].  This will place a listing for the tool on that CraftArea category page.  If you don't know the proper value for this field, don't even include the "location" line.

-

-
<nowiki>{{ToolBox</nowiki>

-
'''|location = Woodworking'''

-
}}

-

-
===Tool Categories===

-
We have many tools,  but not all of them are permanent.  When tools become inactive, they are switched to the [[:Template:ToolBox-Gone|ToolBox-Gone Template]].  This is as simple as changing the name of the template.

-

-
It is desirable for tools that are no longer available to the Asylum to be removed from various category listings on the wiki.  The template system is the easiest way to accomplish this.  Rather than listing the categories at the bottom of the article, put the categories inside the template.  Only the main ToolBox template will apply the categories, which means less editing to keep everything accurate.

==Millermatic 212 Auto-Set ==
-
'''|tool_categories = <nowiki>[[Category:SCUL-owned tools]] [[Category:Air Tools]]</nowiki>'''
+
-
}}
+
-
In the above example, the tool would be placed into the <tt>SCUL-owned tools</tt> and <tt>Air Tools</tt> categories and removed from those categories when the template is switched from ToolBox to ToolBox-Gone.

We have a Millermatic 212 Auto-Set welder at Artisan's Asylum. It has the capacity to weld material from 22 gauge to 3/8 in (9/5mm) thick in a single pass. This machine will weld material from 22 gauge all the way up to 3/8 in (9.5 mm). This is appropriate for light fabrication work, machine hobbyists, garage and body shops, and farms and ranches. It's very easy to setup and offers a wider window of operation. It will deliver 210 amps of power. It offers superior performance for thin to medium gauge metals, with smooth arc throughout its operating range.  It will automatically set itself with the correct parameters for you to start welding. The Millermatic 212 Auto-Set is Miller's mid-level 220 volt wire welder. Infinite voltage control replaces "tap" settings. It's a big improvement as it now allows you to "dial in" precise weld voltage and wirefeed speed when using the Manual Mode.It's compatible with the Spoolmat 200 spool gun. You can control the speed of the wire feed right from the gun. This saves you time by eliminating the need to go back to the machine to change the wire speed.

'''Do not add the tool species nor the craftarea category names to the tool_categories field''' because it will cause inaccuracies in category listings.
