Freedom Baird lives in Cambridge, MA with her two twelve-year-old children. As a sculptor and installation artist she draws from her diverse background in dance, music, and media production. Originally from New York City, she studied modern dance and neurobiology at Oberlin College, and media arts and sciences with Glorianna Davenport at MIT’s Media Lab. Art and performance have taken her abroad, including collaborating on Tod Machover‘s Future of Music installation at the Haus der Musik in Vienna, and performing traditional Balkan choral music on tour with Tatiana Sarbinska‘s ensemble Divi Zheni. Recent sculpture exhibitions and installations include: Elements in Arlington, MA, Art in the Park in Worcester, MA, and Play Day and Boston Young Contemporaries in Boston, MA. Baird is currently a graduate student at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and has received awards and grants from the New York Film Festival, the MIT Council for the Arts, I.D. Magazine, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the Vital Impact Foundation.
