I am writing to share that I am running for re-election to the Gallery Panel and to ask for your vote.

As a founding Gallery Panel member I have served for two years in the capacity of Editorial Director, helping to edit our written documents and communications to ensure clarity and a consistent voice. I am also heavily involved with our event planning and act as lead for the food planning and prep whenever Hope (leatherpixie) is not available. I love to collaborate with my fellow panel members and with the membership at large.

Come find me prepping food this Thursday 5:30-7:30pm in the Holton Kitchen if you'd like to chat about the gallery or my candidacy for the panel!

In terms of qualifications, I have previously been a non-profit professional, writer, editor, and maker for 20 years, and spent two years as operations director for a 250 attendee 4-day performing arts retreat.

I have also been deeply involved in volunteering at A2, including a brief period at Tyler St in 2018. Although I retired this summer from being a deskie and on the orientation team, I helped create the orientation team and later led it for several months. To this day, I have personally taught the new member orientation for over one third of new Artisans Asylum members since Sophie left in 2023. Also, with Sam F. and a few others, I founded and ran an A2 social events team for a year and a half, responsible for popular member events including pasta night, breakfast for dinner, 2 makesgivings and many potlucks as well as a few food-free member events. I am currently a casting shop instructor and tool tester. I am teaching two Iterations-themed casting shop classes in December and January to encourage cross-pollination between our wonderful community Gallery A2 show and our A2 making and learning opportunities.

I love our community and I think the gallery is a wonderful part of uplifting and recognizing each other. My vision is to continue making Gallery A2 as inclusive and inspiring as possible while engaging our membership and building connection with our greater Boston arts and making community.

If you have any questions or would like to talk about my candidacy for the Gallery A2 panel.

An enormous thank you to each and every one of you that has made our work possible and who contribute to A2 in a million ways!

Warmly,

Jules Heck
