Transverse bending tool. |
This is a 12-ton hydraulic "bottle" jack mounted to a steel frame so it can be used as a press. The pressure relief valve is located on the press base. This machine is generally used for bending sheets and bars, and it usually has a 4" wide right-angle bending tool and die set mounted. The opening in the frame is 16" wide.
Use for:
- Bending steel sheets and bars up to 1/8" thick
Do not use for:
- High-carbon or Hardened steel
- Round or square stock

Tooling
The bending tool is press-fit onto the ram below the bottle jack. It can be positioned at any angle, but the two most useful orientations are shown here: longitudinal and transverse.
To remove the tool, hit it with a "dead-blow" hammer with a soft head until it lossens up and comes off. Reposition, and press it onto the ram using the press.
