This flammables cabinet can be used by any member to store flammable finishes and solvents.
Usage
Training and testing is required before using this cabinet and the Finishing Shop. Guidelines:
- Only flammables are allowed in this cabinet
- Label your flammable with your name and the current date
- Re-label your flammables after six months
- Flammables with a date over six months old are available for public use
Maintenance
The dates on items in this cabinet are occasionally reviewed. When the date on the item is over six months old, the item becomes public property. This means that it can be used in the shop or discarded (as hazardous waste) by the shop lead.
It is beneficial for members to use up outdated items, since hazardous waste disposal is time consuming and logistically difficult.
Common problems
Lack of available space
If there's no room in this cabinet, please don't store your flammable item here or anywhere else in the finishing shop. There's another flammables cabinet in the Holton building that you can use.
Leaks
Clean up all leaks promptly or notify the shop lead if you're unable to clean up the leak.
