I am submitting my bid for the Member Liaison position for this current election cycle.

I've found myself supremely in awe of this community, and would love to help build upon the Member Liaison role. While this role is still being defined, I would use the upcoming to year focus on the following areas:

-Member-to-Board dialogue.  I would publish a quarterly email that would help members understand the goings-on of the board, while adhering to the confidentiality clauses I will be bound to as a Member Liaison.

-Filtering ideas and suggestions up to the board: Communication is the antidote!  I think some recent roll-outs and changes that have caused friction in our community would benefit with more transparency, clear communication, and member feedback.

-Helping to take in member feedback about and organize the Composite/Ceramic Shop.  Ultimately I would like to help facilitate better use of the space. I want to see this space thrive for both Composites and Ceramics!

-Work to build connections with organizations within the community to increase membership and community involvement.  We should absolutely be tabling at major events like Allston Village Main Street Festivals and other events to get the word out about the amazing resources that A2 can provide to the community.

A little bit about me: I am a fiber arts artist, illustrator, and sculptor who has loved being Fiber Arts Shop Assistant since September of 2024.  While I am a newer member of this community, I see the huge potential of A2 to serve the Allston/Brighton Community. This past spring I worked for the Maker Mentor pilot program under the direction of Kim Ducharme and Karin Keane, where alongside other A2 teachers, I worked with teens aged 15-17 to learn fiber arts skills.  It was so rewarding to be a part of this program and see how the community can benefit from A2 as a space.

I graduated with an MFA In Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2024, where I worked as a Shop Lead at the Co-works Maker Space on campus.  There, I routinely taught workshops, did tool testing, and wrote protocols for safety and training.  I would use my connections from the greater Boston art community (Allston Village Main Streets, Providence and beyond) to bring in new instructors and propose artists talks.
