Air Assist
The pneumatic control for the press is located at the top right corner of the frame. A quick-disconnect fitting is located under the pressure regulator. An actuator handle is at the bottom.
Make sure the shop air compressor is turned on.
You will need to run a hose over from the shop or from the around the corner.
When you press the handle down, it pumps the hydraulic bottle jack, making the plunger go down. To raise it back up, open the bleed valve at the bottom of the jack. Be careful not to over-pressurize the jack.
Bending Accessory
This accessory normally rests on a shelf behind the press. Caution! Weight is about 60 lbs. The shelf height is the same as the height of the stand under the press. If the stand isn't at the right height, move it up or down before attempting to move the jig. Some cast-iron blocks rest on the stand and support the jig.
It is constructed over a piece of 3" x 3" x 5/16" angle, so the bends it makes are distributed through about 4" of width. To tighten up the bend radius, stack pieces of smaller angle inside the large one.
Loads to bend steel sheet can be found on this tonnage chart. Do not exceed 20 tons.
Please note: This jig can bend sheet up to 3/16" in thickness. It makes bends with a roughly 1/4" radius. For tighter bends, use the shop press in the Metal Shop.
