Copy pages from the old wiki

From Artisans Asylum Wiki

This new wiki is being created from scratch.  There was an old wiki, but it is so out of date that it is not worth standing it up; it’s better to selectively pick pages from the old wiki and recreate them in the new wiki.  Here’s how to find pages in the old wiki and how to copy them into the new wiki.

Find a page on the old wiki

  • Browse or search the files in this Google Drive folder to find topics you are interested in.
    • If you are interested in files in a certain wiki category, you can search the Google Drive folder for a term, e.g. “Category:Metal_Shop” to find all the pages in that wiki category.
  • Alternately, open the A2 Old Wiki Files spreadsheet to see a list of all files.
    • This listing is sorted descending by the number of text lines in each file, as grouped by “Group”. This is an arbitrary label that might help you find what you're looking for.
    • If you are looking for the most substantive files, look at the files with more lines.
    • There may be errors in the labels, so if you can't find what you're looking for, try sorting or searching the spreadsheet differently.

Copy an old wiki page

  • Clicking the link in the Web_Archive column of the A2 Old Wiki Files spreadsheet.
    • To click the link, click the cell and you will see a popup with the link, then click the popup.
    • Copy the original underlying text to the wiki page by opening the link in the Drive_Link column.
    • If you want to download the wiki page you can use the link in the Old_Wiki_File column.
  • You can now copy the text, place it in the new wiki, and edit the page.

Keeping track of transfers to the new wiki

  • Use the Status column in the A2 Old Wiki Files spreadsheet to mark if the page is dead or has already been copied to the new wiki.
  • Use the Shop and Owner columns if you want to assign ownership of old files to a shop or an individual so they may later review and decide what to do with the files assigned to them.
