Get tested on a tool or shop

From Artisans Asylum Wiki

Many tools have restrictions and require training and/or testing. They may be capable of injuring the user, breakable if misused, or have other use considerations that mean that training and testing is needed.

Several shops also have shop-wide tests, notably the Jewelry Shop, Bike Shop, and Finishing Shop.

  • Before signing up for a test, make sure that you are qualified to take the test. You are probably qualified if:
    • You are a member (this includes day pass members) AND
    • You have prior personal or professional experience using the tool you want to be tested on or in the craft practiced in the shop, OR
    • You have learned how to use the restricted tool in a class, private lesson, or shop night, and were not already tool tested
  • Open the Tool Testing page on our public website.
  • Click on the appropriate shop to show the list of tool testers.
  • Click on the name of any tool tester.
    • If the link is to an email address, email the tool tester to ask for a test. Be specific! Ask for a tool test and mention the tool type in the subject line and body of your message.
    • Otherwise, follow the instructions in your web browser to sign up for a testing appointment at a time when the tester is available.
