Get tested on a tool or shop
From Artisans Asylum Wiki
Many tools have restrictions and require training and/or testing. They may be capable of injuring the user, breakable if misused, or have other use considerations that mean that training and testing is needed.
Several shops also have shop-wide tests, notably the Jewelry Shop, Bike Shop, and Finishing Shop.
- Before signing up for a test, make sure that you are qualified to take the test. You are probably qualified if:
- You are a member (this includes day pass members) AND
- You have prior personal or professional experience using the tool you want to be tested on or in the craft practiced in the shop, OR
- You have learned how to use the restricted tool in a class, private lesson, or shop night, and were not already tool tested
- Open the Tool Testing page on our public website.
- Click on the appropriate shop to show the list of tool testers.
- If you don't know which shop your tool is in, look at the location on the tool page.
- Click on the name of any tool tester.
- If the link is to an email address, email the tool tester to ask for a test. Be specific! Ask for a tool test and mention the tool type in the subject line and body of your message.
- Otherwise, follow the instructions in your web browser to sign up for a testing appointment at a time when the tester is available.
